“It’s been more that half a year since I’ve turned 18 and I haven’t donated blood yet.” was what I had been thinking for the past few months. So when I got a mail informing students about the blood donation camp at my university, I saw my window of opportunity. Surprisingly, my B.C. class got cancelled and I was free by 10 for the rest of the day. So I went to the venue with a couple of friends for ‘moral support’ for my first blood donation. I filled the form, got my finger pricked to check my haemoglobin and blood pressure after which I got my card.
I lay down as Pratibha held my hand (yeah, I’m a wuss when it comes to pricking or injections) and I looked towards Rohan for some distraction and these guys started talking to distract me as the needle was ‘inserted’ in my right arm and man, it looked somewhat scary.
But heck, when I got out of that room, I felt awesome. Just the fact that my blood might just save someone and I did something good for a change made my day. And after that, I encouraged my friends to join me and some of them did.
Of course, I bragged about it too. 😛
